UT Boathouse
The Riverfront Boathouse is constructed over the Tennessee River near the University of Tennessee campus and Neyland Stadium. The three-story, 17,570 square foot facility serves as headquarters for the University of Tennessee Women's Rowing Team with boat storage and launching ramps on the first floor and training/meeting rooms on the second. Construction consists of concrete filled mooring cells, steel pipe piles with concrete pile caps, structural steel frame with concrete floors and exterior platforms, wood siding, and metal roofing. The first floor is approximately twelve feet above the Tennessee River. Foundation construction was completed from barges with cranes located in the river. Value engineering including substituting steel piles, mooring cells, structural steel in lieu of drilled caissons and pre-cast concrete base frame and deck saved approximately $800,000.00.
